What you don't know about twins (at least ours)

First of all, thank you so much for your congratulations on Monday's big announcement! It's been hard for me to keep a secret that big (and that exciting), so I felt special to know that all of you thought it was great news, too.

A few more details:

  • We found out we were expecting twins in early December and learned that they were fraternal right before Christmas.
  • These are natural twins. While we did have to try for a while to have a baby, I didn't take any fertility drugs. My mom is a twin (she has a brother), so I knew that it was possible for me to have twins, since they usually skip a generation and she didn't have twins.
  • I have been exhausted for the past few months, which is part of the reason why this blog has slowed down. It's also why I haven't been as regular about visiting your blogs, which I hope to do better at soon! I spent the week of my sister's wedding on bed rest because I got sick and had some other complications. Since then, things have been much better.
  • We learned that we were expecting a boy and a girl last Friday, when I was 15 weeks along.
  • So far, I am not really showing, but several people have asked me to post a "baby bump" picture, so I may be doing that next week!
I hope this answered any questions. We're so excited for a sweet baby boy and baby girl to join our family soon.

  2. I'm really so excited for you! How fun to start right off with a boy and a girl! Take it easy, and don't worry if you have to neglect some things to get some rest!

  3. I am so, so excited for you! I have one piece of advice: DON'T read the Baby Center message boards. They are full of crazy women who will just make you worry. My husband banned me from reading them when I was pregnant. It wasn't good for my blood pressure!

    1. Thanks, Jenny! I will avoid the Baby Center boards. I've already seen some crazy posts from people on articles I've read, so I'm a bit wary. :)

  4. I remember when Mom had twins her belly was so big she could use it as a place to eat her food off of. It was a lot of fun! I'm so stoked for you!

  5. Great news, I am so so happy for you Lindsay and can't wait for 'baby bump', more cute booties, anything as this is wonderful time in a woman's life and I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did. Have you got any names in mind? Nursery done? I know, I know I should probably calm down... but it is so exciting xxxx

  7. What a perfect Christmas present to find that out. Love the idea of blue & pink. I just babysat a friends baby girl the other day and she had pink converse for babies. They were adorable. Congrats again to you and your hubby.
