Fashion Friday: Lumberjack

Button-up: Ross | Pants: Romeo & Juliet Couture via HauteLook | Sneakers: Converse (old via eBay)

I have always loved plaid, so how could I pass up this button-up (especially for just $9!)? It's flannel, too, so it keeps me nice and warm. And sorry for the indoor photo again; it just gets dark so early!

I think plaid (at least as a shirt) can look great on everyone because the busy pattern hides problem areas like a tummy or flabby arms. To avoid looking like a lumberjack (or like you stepped out of the 1970s), pair a flannel shirt with a bright pair of jeans or even just black leggings. I think boots would have been cute with this outfit as well, but since the last few outfits I've posted have included boots, I thought I'd mix things up a bit with my red Converses. I actually wore these with my wedding dress, and they're still going strong after two years (although they're starting to fall apart).

Enjoy Black Friday! Andrew and I decided at the last minute to go to Shoe Carnival's sale, and I scored a pair of brown boots for $10! That's about as crazy as I get with the shopping. Mobs of people freak me out. Any good deals that you're excited about?

  1. This is eerily similar to what I'm wearing today. Plaid flannel shirt, grey skinnies, Converse.

  3. I need to look for a Flannel Friday shirt. Fun. I'm not a Black Friday fan but I'm a little jealous about the boots. Awesome.

  4. Connie -- I don't like Black Friday, either. The boots happened to be on sale for $20, and then we were one of the first 100 in the door, so we got a $10 gift card. It was just lucky. And we only waited in line outside for about 45 minutes, bought the boots and were back out to the car in 10 minutes. If all Black Friday shopping were like that, I could handle it. :)
