Music Monday: I can love you like that

I hope you had a wonderful weekend! Andrew and I spent Saturday afternoon and evening at the nearby amusement park, Lagoon. I have so many wonderful memories of Lagoon, and spending time there is like coming home.

When I was little, even though we lived about three-and-a-half hours away, we would go to Lagoon when we were visiting my grandparents in Utah. I also went there with my school at the end of eighth grade, and it was the main focus of our senior trip when I graduated from high school.

I still think of my good friend Kristen whenever I ride the Spider, and I like to snuggle up to my husband on the Sky Ride (a ski lift-esque ride that takes you from one side of the park to the other). Twenty years have passed since I first started going to Lagoon, and it really hasn't changed much — other than the prices have skyrocketed. I hope the ancient Terror Ride and Dracula's Castle are still there to frighten my own kids in a few years.

While we were in line to ride the swings, which are my favorite, this awesome '90s song came on and transported me back to junior high. Andrew and I knew practically every word and sang along with it. I seriously love the '90s. Best ballads ever.

Blue Lagoon

On Friday, Andrew and I took some time off work to go to one of my very favorite places, Lagoon. It might seem weird that a little (compared to Disneyland, anyway) amusement park in Utah is one of my favorite places, but I have such great memories of going there as a kid. Since my dad grew up in Salt Lake, he'd always tell us about his favorite ride (the Flying Aces) and have his own little trip down memory lane when we were there. As for me, I longed to sit on the Sky Ride someday with my boyfriend, floating over the entire theme park at dusk as he put his arm around me and kissed me. Yes, that really was my dream.

Guess what. I never went to Lagoon with a boyfriend. But I've gone with my husband several times -- and that's even better. We even ride the Sky Ride, and he holds my hand and kisses me and lets me lean on his shoulder as we glide high above the carousel, fountains and flowers. What's better than that?

It's what fun is!

Andrew and I spent half of Friday riding, swinging, swaying, walking, spinning and dropping.

That's right. We went to Lagoon for Overstock.com's annual party! It was fun to be there with my fiance this time, walking from roller coaster to swings to haunted house with virtually no lines at all. We had a barbecue and took some time out on the Sky Ride when we got a little dizzy from riding the Samurai, Rocket and Paratrooper within minutes of each other.
I also had a lovely Saturday cleaning out Ruby and then going to the new Percy Jackson and the Olympians movie at the dollar theater with Andrew, despite the giggling 12-year-old audience we just didn't fit into.
And Sunday, we took some engagement pictures ourselves at this beautiful old church. Hopefully we'll have our invitations done in a few weeks! We just need to get the PERFECT shot to use.
My favorite part of the weekend, though, was our rides on the Ferris wheel. I've always loved Ferris wheels. There's something about being suspended high in the air and looking at the world from a new perspective that's inspiring. And, of course, it's amazing to be sitting alone with the man you love who will be your husband in two months!!
Ain't love grand?
